Valkyries follows the lives of two MMA fighters over four years: Mariona Om, a young Catalan woman beginning her career in the amateur circuit, and Emily Mota, a professional Brazilian fighter already competing for championship belts. Alongside their training and matches, the film reveals their personal stories: Mariona lives in a mobile home on her family farm in Cardedeu, striving to leave behind a past marked by anorexia and drug use. Emily, living in Salou with her girlfriend, confronts the trauma of her brother’s murder in Brazil. 

Shot with an intimate, feminine, and naturalistic gaze, Valkyries captures both the physical and the invisible: fatigue, waiting, faith, grief, and determination. Visceral, alive, and rhythmic—each fight becomes an act of personal resistance.

A sports documentary that reflects what it truly means, at the deepest level, to be a woman who fights.
